Workshop and panel talk with Ruijan kvääniliitto and Garmeres

- 06/05/2026

Welcome to a Pride-inspired workshop and panel talk - a collaboration between Oslo Pride, Norwegian Kven Organization and Garmeres!

When: Tuesday the 23rd of june, 2:00 PM
Where:
Pridehouse - Christiania Torv 5, 0158 Oslo

This event invites participants to work with käsityö and doudji - kven and sámi handcraft. Kven craftworker, Vilde Christoffersen Walsø, from Norwegian Kven Organization (NKO) and our own board leader, Tatjana Kolpus, will instruct and guide you though craftwork. The items are made with techniques and materials from kven and sámi craftwork tradition.

As a part of the workshop, Katja Hjertaas (NKO) will moderate a conversation with Vilde and Tatjana. This talk will explore how patterns carries memories, and how hands at work can open a space for reflection between us - where new connection takes place. Participants are invited to join this conversation.

This concept is based on "Duddjot ja gulalit", or "Duodji and listen" - where participants work with handcraft while listening to a conversation, a presentation, etc.

The workshop is open to everyone, and we especially welcome youth and adults with kven and sámi identity! No prior knowledge is required to participate, but having sewn before will give you an advantage.

You don't need a ticket to participate, but there is limited space, and you may need to arrive early to secure a spot. You'll find more information on Oslo Pride's pages and Garmeres' Facebook.

Hope to see you there!
